In light of the deappropriation action taken at tonight’s meeting, the Assembly has financial capacity to approve a supplemental appropriation for the Housing Assistance Program. If federal legislation extends the December 30 CARES Act deadline, then the Grant Administrator likely has capacity to process a supplemental appropriation.
Approximately 3000 people have applied for this program, and the existing $3M appropriation is likely to provide grants to 1049 applicants. With every additional $100,000, approximately 39 more applicants receive a grant. Staff has proposed a supplemental appropriation of $1.2M, which would provide grants for about 468 more households.
