Ordinance 2019-06(AG) An Ordinance Appropriating up to $8,500,000 to the Manager for Phases 2 and 3 of a COVID-19 Business Sustainability Grant Program; Funding Provided by the CARES Act Special Revenue Fund.

MANAGER'S REPORT:

The Economic Stabilization Task Force has been developing options for the Assembly to help the local economy recover from the harm caused by COVID-19. This ordinance would provide additional funding of $8.5M for Phases 2 and 3 of the Business Sustainability Program. This topic was discussed by Assembly committees on May 20 (AFC), June 1 (COW), June 17 (AFC), July 8 (AFC), and July 20 (COW). The ordinance was introduced at the June 8, 2020 Regular Assembly meeting.

 

 Version (c) of this ordinance reflects the changes recommended by the Committee of the Whole. Since then, the Economic Stabilization Task Force, the Juneau Economic Development Council, and the Mayor reviewed the changes and recommend that version (d) be adopted.

RECOMMENDATION:

The City Manager recommends the Assembly adopt version (d) of this ordinance.
